Ronaldinho 'a doubt' for World Cup; Not in squad for Brazil's final friendly

Ronaldinho could miss the World Cup after being omitted from Brazil's final warm-up friendly ahead of the summer tournament in South Africa.

He will not face Ireland at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in London on 2 March.

The AC Milan star, 29, has not played for Brazil since the start of 2009, but his improved recent form has encouraged supporters to call for his return.

But coach Dunga has resisted pressure from the fans and local media in Brazil to recall the ex-Barcelona forward.

The 1994 World Cup winning captain has kept faith with Michel Bastos (Lyon), Juan and Doni (both Roma), Kleberson (Flamengo) and Gilberto (Cruzeiro).

Former Manchester City forward Robinho, who is now on-loan at Santos, has been included in the squad as has Liverpool midfielder Lucas. But there is no place for Manchester United midfielder Anderson.

Ronaldinho won the World Cup in 2002 and famously knocked out England at that tournament after lobbing keeper David Seaman with a second-half free-kick.

Brazil legend Pele was another who called for Ronaldinho to return to the fold.

Ronaldinho has appeared 87 times for his country, scoring 32 times.

He was also twice named World player of the year in 2004 and 2005 and has won the prestigious Ballon d'Or (european player of the year) once.

Does the squad for the friendly mean that much, or do you guys think it will be significant?

Ok we all accept dunga is a retard, no doubts there. The friendlies should be used to get Ronnie used to his teammates again in the national squad

when he was dropped from that squad he was about 10% the player he once was, now he is back to around 80% imo. He and Pato isd what the team needs to be based around

Brazil coach Carlos Dunga has reacted angrily to questions regarding the absence of Ronaldinho from his roster for the friendly against Ireland on March 2.

The 1994 World Cup winner is currently participating in a workshop organised by FIFA with other prominent coaches in Rustenberg, South Africa. However, he was not pleased when questioned by journalists over the AC Milan man's exclusion from the squad.

"I guess it's normal, because the players who are absent are always the best and everyone wants to talk about who is not part of the national team," he snapped, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

"None of this is new on the eve of a World Cup. The questions and answers continue to be the same. The pressure on the coach of the Selecao is always very strong.

"Every region and newspaper would like to impose their own players, but I will go forward in my own way."

Dunga has repeatedly snubbed Ronaldinho this season, with speculation increasing that he will not be a part of the World Cup this summer. The Rossoneri playmaker recently hit his stride with a number of positive performances over the past few months and is currently the assist leader in Serie A this season.

When pressed on Ronaldinho, Dunga had this to say.

"Pele was once the best player in the world. I played once as well. Players come and players go. We have the team decided but we need certain things defined."

He's not going
