looked really buggered for us at 221-7 chasing South Africa's 418, but Swann has really put us back in contention, 348-8 at the moment and Swann sitting on 81.

any chance this thread can just be about discussion of the game rather than a p***ing contest? :)

swanny goes, 85 on the board, england all out for 356, decent effort in the end.

got out of jail a little bit there.

Bit annoyed with the Broad fiasco. If you're going to use the appeal, you should make it pretty much straight away.

yup, but it could have been far worse, nice to get an early wicket off them too, can see this one going for a draw.

if it is a draw, only 1 man for MoM, Mr Swann. 85 and a fifor. Tremendous cricket.

a very underrated aspect of the england team is the depth of their batting, broad and swann are good defensive batsman. very valuable in test cricket, they have 9 batsman who can make good runs

Well, not really defensive but have the knack of getting runs when they are needed, which is an important part of the game England didn't have for a very long time.

indeed, england i think now are missing a strike bowler, especially in their pace attack now that freddy is gone

broad is ok, anderson very good and swann is decent as well but they really need another top bowler in the ranks

absolutely.

Before we can realistically be considered up there as one of the top team, we need a world class paceman. The batting to 8 is good enough usually, but the 3 strike bowlers need to up it.

england finish the day on 11-1 chasing 364, not a target we will achieve so we basically need to play well enough and bat out the 5th day to take a draw

hopefully won't be relying on a miracle 10th wicket partnership.

5th day wicket, can be treacherous considering the low bounce so far.

an interesting match so far but the game was ruined by such a lacklustre first innings from SA. The pitch is cracking up a bit but I'm not sure if SA have the firepower to get England out again. Looks like a draw to me which I think both teams will be quite happy to settle for.
always remember you're unique - just like everyone else
