was watching the england under 21's last night and they played pretty well despite the thrashing, id go as far as saying the under 21's pass the ball better than the full team

BUT!! what England as a whole are missing is an iniesta type player why havent we got that sort of player. all our players seem to just stand in the same position no1 floats around looking for the ball and play cute passes. this is what england lacked yesterday. and wot the senior team lack too.

We dont coach players like that, we coach them into being the biggest strongest mofos around. The small technical kids get left behind as a whole.

True, England have never really produced that type of player in the past either.

The closest in the full team is Barry and in the under 21s Noble and Huddlestone.

if they are the closet then we are miles away in prodducing this gem.. a player with the mix of Joe Cole and Paul Scholes would be awesome.. got high hopes of Jack Wilshere being this type player!!

Scholes mate?

I imagine the next young talent of technical ability will come from Arsenal as they coach that way.

gerrard and rooney are the two players who can be head on head with any am in the world for england

just need to get the clicking together. currently england are only getting the best out of rooney, at club level liverpool are getting the best out of gerrard and united aint getting the best out of rooney

funny how they perform at only for club or national team at a top top level

Scholes...i'd forgotten about him.

Yeah things are looking pretty dire for a few years.

Besides Wilshere, there's that guy at Leeds....Fabien Delph.

why are things looking dire?

i think we have a very good crop of young players coming through in the next few years and if we dont have that type of player we should play to the strengths of the players in the team. theres more than one way to win a football match :)

England problem is the coaching at a young age and the footballing culture. How can England produce an "Iniesta" type player if he wouldn't be appreciated? Small, talented schemers are often left well behind. Imagination is looked at with disgust as the player might make a mistake trying "fancy shite".

The fact that Frank Lampard is seen as a superior midfield player to somebody like Xavi is a testiment to this.

thats only because he scores goals and goals mean players r rated higher. i.e. gerrard being classed as the best player in the world by zidane and people if he didnt score alot of goals he wouldn't be getting into the team of the year every year.

rooney is quite creative if played just behind the striker and can link up play though we do need more players like this

would a player like alonso be classed as one of these schemers???
